Salary Dynamics and the Impact of Additional Payments
The increase in the average salary on an annual basis was made possible, in particular, by the rise in additional payments — discretionary, annual, semi-annual, and quarterly bonuses, as well as overtime compensation. These factors significantly influenced the overall positive dynamics of income for Polish workers.
Median Salary, Gender, and Age Differences
The Central Statistical Office of Poland reports that in February 2025, the median salary was 7,166.00 zlotys. This is 23.5% lower than the average gross salary for the same month (9,362.47 zlotys), indicating a significant unevenness in income distribution among the working population.
The size of salaries in Poland significantly depends on the gender, age of the employee, and the scale of the company. In particular, among men, the median salary is 7,275 zlotys, while among women, it is 7,060.44 zlotys. The highest figures are recorded in the age group of 45–54 years, where the median salary reaches 7,560.40 zlotys.
At the largest enterprises with more than 1,000 employees, workers can expect the highest median salary — 8,594.28 zlotys.
“In addition to average figures, GUS also published the median salary for February 2025, which was 7,166.00 zlotys. This figure is 23.5% lower than the average gross monthly salary at that time — 9,362.47 zlotys, indicating the uneven distribution of income among workers.”
Overall, despite a slight decrease in the second quarter, there is a trend of increasing income for the population in Poland, as evidenced by the steady rise in average and median salaries.
