Salary Change Dynamics in Poland

Compared to August of last year, the average salary increased by 7.1%. However, compared to July of this year, a decrease of 1.5% was recorded. Analysts had expected even higher figures, forecasting an increase of around 8%, but the actual data turned out to be more modest.

Factors Influencing Salary Levels

The main reason for the decrease in the average salary in August was the reduction of one-time payments, which significantly boosted the July figures. In the previous month, employees received bonuses, anniversary rewards, and severance pay, which had a substantial impact on the average income level. In August, however, there were fewer of these additional payments, resulting in a lower overall figure.

“The reason is that the July statistics were ‘pulled up’ by one-time payments: bonuses, anniversary rewards, and severance pay. In August, there were fewer such additions, so the average salary appears more modest.”

Thus, seasonal factors and the specifics of payroll significantly affect the average salary statistics in Poland, which is important to consider when analyzing the economic situation in the country.
