За роки війни в Україні з’явилося близько 70 нових виноробних підприємств, допомогло вдосконалення законодавства.

In recent years, the number of new wineries in Ukraine has rapidly increased. According to the head of the Association of Gardeners, Viticulturists, and Winemakers of Ukraine, Volodymyr Pechko, about 70 new wineries have been opened in the country. An important factor for the development of the industry has been the improvement of the legislative framework.

The Impact of Legislative Changes on the Winemaking Industry

Previously, to obtain a license for wine production, producers had to pay a significant amount—around 500,000 hryvnias. After the introduction of a simplified registration procedure for wineries, the financial barrier has significantly decreased, facilitating the emergence of new players in the market.

“In our country, about 70 new wineries have appeared in recent years thanks to significant improvements in legislation.”

The Potential and Challenges of Ukrainian Winemaking

Experts estimate that there is currently a real boom in the establishment of small winemaking enterprises. However, the rapid growth of the industry has led to a shortage of raw materials for winemakers.

In Ukraine, there are approximately 20,000 hectares of vineyards, with 5,000 hectares planted during the war. These figures do not include the occupied regions. At the same time, due to global warming, grapes have begun to be grown in areas atypical for this crop, particularly in Kyiv region.

The activation of processing enterprises has made grape cultivation significantly more profitable. Specifically, since 2023, the price of a kilogram of grapes for processing has increased from 5–8 hryvnias to 18–25 hryvnias.

At the same time, the export of Ukrainian wine remains low, indicating significant potential for further development of the industry.
