Ark Invest invested over $373 million in Circle shares during its NYSE debut

The American investment firm Ark Invest, led by Cathie Wood, made a significant investment of $373.4 million by purchasing nearly 4.5 million shares of Circle during its debut on the New York Stock Exchange on June 6, 2025. The investment was distributed among three Ark funds: Innovation (ARKK), Next Generation Internet (ARKW), and Fintech Innovation (ARKF).

Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, became a public company with the ticker CRCL. On its first day of trading, Circle’s stock price surged nearly 200%, reaching a peak of $96 and closing at $83.23, which is 168.5% higher than the initial offering price of $31. To implement this investment strategy, Ark Invest sold part of its holdings in companies such as Coinbase, Robinhood, and Block, while also partially reducing its positions in its own spot Bitcoin ETF (ARKB).

  • 161,304 shares of Coinbase — $39.4 million;
  • 255,327 shares of Robinhood — $18.5 million;
  • 163,304 shares of Block — $10.4 million;
  • $17.1 million from the ARKB ETF, which remains one of the key holdings.

“Our transformation into a public company is a significant and powerful milestone. The world is ready for a transition to an internet financial system,” said Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire.

Circle among the key assets of Ark Invest funds

According to updated data, CRCL shares hold prominent positions in the portfolios of Ark Invest funds:

  • 10th place in ARKK (4.4% of the portfolio, or $251.8 million);
  • 8th place in ARKW (4.4% of the portfolio, or $77.2 million);
  • 7th place in ARKF (4.3% of the portfolio, or $44.5 million).

Meanwhile, the main assets of Ark Invest funds remain Tesla (10.3%), ARKB ETF (8.2%), and Shopify (9%).

Circle currently ranks second in the world by the volume of issued stablecoins, with a market capitalization of $61 billion, trailing only Tether, which has a market cap of $154.2 billion. During its initial public offering, Circle raised $1.1 billion in investments, valuing the company at $6.9 billion.
