Agricultural Expenses for Field Work Will Increase by 5-10% in 2026

Experts predict that in 2026, the expenses of Ukrainian farmers for conducting field work may increase by 5-10% compared to the previous year. The main factors influencing the rise in the cost of growing agricultural crops remain high prices for seeds and plant protection products, which continue to constitute a significant portion of agribusiness expenses.

Financial Burden and Expense Structure

The total expenses for the complex of field work in 2026 may reach 620-650 billion hryvnias. Although a significant price jump is not expected, as most material and technical resources were purchased by farmers in 2025, the situation remains tense due to a number of other factors. The rising prices of fuel, fertilizers, and the shortage of qualified labor have a significant impact on the financial stability of farms.

“Expenses on seeds and plant protection products remain the main financial burden for agribusiness.”

Fuel Costs and the Impact of Inflation

The increase in excise tax in 2025 led to additional expenses on diesel fuel amounting to 5.7 billion hryvnias, corresponding to a 10% price increase. In 2026, experts estimate that inflationary processes may further increase fuel prices by another 10-12%. Fuel and fertilizer expenses are among the main budget items for agricultural producers, directly affecting the final cost of growing agricultural crops. Together, these factors create a financial burden that must be considered when planning for the 2026 season.
