New strikes on regions and their consequences
As Zelensky noted, the Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed strike drones in Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Kyiv regions, and in the capital itself. As a result of the attacks, casualties and injuries among the civilian population were recorded.
According to the Air Forces, Ukrainian military managed to shoot down 192 out of 216 drones that Russia used to attack Ukrainian cities and infrastructure on the night of May 12.
The president’s position on responding to Russian aggression
“We talked about acting mirror-like in response to all Russian steps. Russia must end this war, and it is up to them to take steps towards a real, lasting ceasefire,” the president added.
The president emphasized the need to strengthen and continue the action of international sanctions against Russia until the aggression is completely halted.
It is known that during the announced ceasefire, which lasted three days, Russia refrained from large-scale attacks across Ukraine, including Kyiv. However, frontline regions continued to suffer strikes, leading to casualties and injuries.
