The free trade zone between Ukraine and the United States could become one of the key incentives for attracting foreign investment after the war ends. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

According to the head of state, the existence of a duty-free free trade zone with the USA would create favorable conditions for American businesses to enter the Ukrainian market in the early years after the end of hostilities.
“For Ukraine, this will be very important in the first years. I believe that businesses will come. Many business representatives have already told me that this matters to them,” Zelensky noted in response to journalists’ questions.
The president added that Ukraine is counting on the adoption of the relevant decision, as it could become an important component of the country’s economic recovery.
Earlier, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff stated during a speech in Davos that after the war ends, Ukraine could receive a duty-free free trade zone with the United States. According to him, this step could significantly strengthen the process of rebuilding the Ukrainian economy.
At the same time, it was planned to sign the so-called “Prosperity Agreement” between Ukraine and the USA at the forum in Davos—a large-scale recovery plan for Ukraine amounting to up to 800 billion dollars. The document was agreed upon at a technical level, but the signing of the agreement at the presidential level did not take place.
As reported by American media citing unnamed officials, no specific date for the signing of the agreement was set, and the document requires further refinement. According to some media sources, the American side decided to further assess the political and international risks associated with the implementation of the agreements.
