Why Child Payments Are Delayed in 2026: Reasons and Innovations

Many Ukrainian families who applied for financial assistance at the birth of a child at the beginning of 2026 faced delays in payments. The issue concerned applications submitted in January and February that were not funded within the expected timeframe.

Reasons for Delay and Prompt Solutions

The Minister of Social Policy, Denys Uliutin, explained that the delays occurred due to a technical error during the opening of accounts for recipients of assistance. This problem has now been resolved, and all funds for January applications have been transferred to Oschadbank for further crediting to family accounts.

“The cause was a technical error related to the opening of accounts. The problem has now been resolved, and the funds for January applications have been transferred to Oschadbank for further crediting to recipients.”

Payment Amounts and New Government Initiatives

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, support for Ukrainian families with children remains significant. In April 2026, the total amount of payments for children under one year old was 1.3 billion UAH, and an additional 78 million UAH was allocated for the implementation of the “eNursery” program.

At the same time, the government is announcing changes in the assistance system. In particular, it is planned to introduce a universal card that will receive all types of child payments: assistance at birth, the “eNursery” program, the “Baby Package,” and the “School Package.” The relevant project is expected to be submitted for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers in the near future.

Additionally, a new electronic service is being developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the “Diia” application, which will allow applications for child payments to be submitted online. The presentation of this service is expected in May 2026.

What Payments Are Provided in 2026

The government assures that all citizens entitled to social assistance will receive the funds due to them in full.

The updated family support system provides for the following payments starting in 2026:

  • one-time assistance at the birth of a child – 50,000 UAH;
  • monthly support until the child reaches one year old – 7,000 UAH;
  • after that – up to 8,000 UAH for childcare or nanny services, provided that parents return to work.

The introduction of such changes is aimed not only at reducing the financial difficulties of Ukrainian families but also at positively impacting the demographic situation in the country.
