Veterans are offered to allow entry into public service without an interview

In Ukraine, a legislative initiative is being considered that proposes to eliminate the interview stage for veterans during the competitive procedure for public service positions. The corresponding proposal came from members of parliament who aim to simplify the employment process for defenders of Ukraine with the necessary education.

Features of Veteran Employment

According to the new initiative, until the official resumption of competitions for filling positions in government bodies, military personnel with the necessary education will be able to be hired without undergoing an interview. All that is required is their application expressing the intention to take up the corresponding position.

According to the chair of the parliamentary committee on social policy, Halyna Tretyakova: “Military personnel have already undergone a ‘interview’ on the battlefield, proving their motivation and dedication to the state. Therefore, an additional subjective assessment during the hiring process seems unnecessary.”

Resumption of Competitions and European Commitments

At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada is working on draft law No. 13478, which concerns the resumption of general competitions for public service. This document is part of Ukraine’s commitments under the Ukraine Facility program, which opens up opportunities for receiving funding from the European Union. The adoption of the draft law will allow for the return of a transparent competitive system for appointments to positions in government bodies and will facilitate Ukraine’s further integration into European standards of public administration.
