The state railway company “Ukrzaliznytsia” has once again announced its intention to raise tariffs on freight transportation. This was reported by Valerii Tkachov, the deputy director of the company’s commercial department.
This is reported by Finway
Despite harsh criticism from businesses and experts pointing out the inefficiency of the company’s operations, officials from “Ukrzaliznytsia” refrained from commenting on this issue. Tkachov noted that the new proposal for tariff increases would be considered as “indexation,” rather than an “increase in tariffs.”
“Everything has become more expensive, yet tariffs have remained at the 2022 level,” he emphasized.
It is worth noting that in 2022, tariffs nearly doubled. According to Tkachov, the company intends to raise tariffs by 20-40%.
The Ministry of Development also expressed its position, stating that subsidizing “Ukrzaliznytsia,” particularly in the area of passenger transportation, through freight transportation is controversial in terms of European legislation, which Ukraine will need to implement in the near future.
