Ukrzaliznytsia launches new daily summer routes and additional trains

With the onset of the summer season, Ukrzaliznytsia is changing the organization of passenger transportation to better meet the growing demand and optimize operations amid a shortage of rolling stock caused by regular enemy attacks. The company is reallocating cars: they are being detached from less demanded routes and directed to popular summer routes.

This is reported by Finway

“Due to the shortage of rolling stock caused by constant enemy attacks, the company is optimizing resources by detaching cars from less popular routes and redirecting them to the most in-demand services”.

Seven trains will switch to daily service

Ukrzaliznytsia has announced that soon seven main passenger trains will begin to operate daily. The following services are included in this list:

  • No. 4/3 Uzhhorod – Dnipro,
  • No. 86/85 Lviv – Zaporizhzhia,
  • No. 128/127 Lviv – Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia,
  • No. 78/77 Kovel – Odesa,
  • No. 88/87 Kovel – Dnipro,
  • No. 7/8 Kharkiv – Odesa,
  • No. 121/122 Mykolaiv – Kyiv.

Restoration of routes and additional trains

In addition to increasing the frequency of main trains, Ukrzaliznytsia is restoring the operation of train No. 143/144 Sumy – Rakhiv. This route will connect Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Sivershchyna with the western regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yaremche, and Vorokhta. This will allow residents of Sumy, Bilopillia, and Konotop to have direct rail connections with the western regions.

Another innovation will be the additional train No. 227/228 Kyiv – Chernivtsi, which will operate every other day. Its route will pass through Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kolomyia. Passengers will have access to economy, compartment, and SV cars, which should meet the demand for transportation between the capital and Bukovyna.

The company emphasizes that ticket sales for new and updated services will gradually open according to the travel dates: from 5 to 20 days before the train’s departure date.

It was previously reported that Ukrzaliznytsia has already launched modernized regional trains on the routes Rivne – Lviv – Rivne and Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi – Kyiv, which are also aimed at improving the quality of passenger transportation during the summer period.
