Ukrainian Veterans to Undergo Leadership Training at Yale University through the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation Program

The Viktor Pinchuk Foundation has launched its first international leadership program for Ukrainian veterans — Ukrainian Veterans Leadership Program (UVLP). This initiative aims to develop the leadership qualities of participants by providing access to modern, world-class educational approaches and is part of the Foundation’s strategy to cultivate a new generation of leaders in Ukraine.

Collaboration with Yale University and Training Format

The first phase of the UVLP is being implemented in partnership with the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. At the end of April 2026, a group of 15 Ukrainian veterans will travel to the USA to participate in an intensive educational course. During the training, participants will collaborate with leading educators and experts in the fields of leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making in uncertain conditions.

The program places special emphasis on developing universal leadership skills that can be applied in both military and civilian life — particularly in communities, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

“Those who defended Ukraine have already demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. They deserve the very best — the best education, world-class rehabilitation, and the highest standards of support in all areas. This leadership program at Yale University provides them access to the best global training,” said Viktor Pinchuk.

Additional Initiatives and Support for Veterans

According to Viktor Pinchuk, the involvement of world-class professors opens new opportunities for veterans and allows educators to learn from the experiences of Ukrainian defenders. The UVLP complements a range of leadership initiatives by the Foundation, which has supported the development of young leaders through educational and scholarship projects for over 20 years, including Aspen Institute, “Zavtra.UA,” and WorldWideStudies.

UVLP is also part of the extensive programs by Viktor and Olena Pinchuk aimed at supporting military personnel and veterans. Among these are RECOVERY (rehabilitation network), “RETURN” (mental health support), and Message from the Frontline, which fosters dialogue between Ukrainian military personnel and Western leaders.

Jim Levinson, a representative of Yale Jackson, emphasized that the university is pleased to welcome Ukrainian veterans to its campus. He stated that faculty and researchers, who are experts in history, economics, political science, and international relations, will help program participants rethink their own experiences and expand their horizons for future opportunities.

Yale University is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world, founded in 1701. It specializes in training professionals in international relations and global policy, offering interdisciplinary educational programs.
