Ukrainian Gas Stations Lower Diesel Fuel Prices: Updated Rates and Reasons

Ukrainian networks of gas stations have begun a mass reduction in diesel fuel prices following a significant decrease in wholesale purchases. On May 8, fuel market operators noted a substantial adjustment in pricing policy, which was a result of falling European quotations for diesel.

This is reported by Finway

“On average, diesel at gas stations lost nearly 1 hryvnia per liter in one day, and the average price dropped to 88.03 UAH/l.”

New Prices at Major Gas Station Networks

The largest market players quickly responded to the changes. In particular, the OKKO and WOG networks lowered the price of diesel fuel by 2 hryvnias per liter, setting it at 89.90 UAH/l. UKRNAFTA and UPG also adjusted their prices: diesel in these networks became cheaper by 1 hryvnia — to 86.90 UAH/l. In addition to nationwide networks, regional and local gas stations joined the price reduction process, where prices fell by 1-1.5 UAH/l.

Situation with Gasoline and the Impact of the European Market

Unlike the diesel segment, most operators did not make changes to gasoline prices, which had previously increased by about 2 UAH/l. Only a few networks partially adjusted the previous increase; for example, a state gas station lowered the gasoline price to 69.90 UAH/l.

The main driver of the price correction for diesel was the sharp decrease in European supplies. Within a few days, the price of European diesel fell by more than 150 dollars per ton, which immediately affected the Ukrainian market. Already in southern Ukraine, wholesale offers for diesel dropped to about 74 UAH/l, signaling a review of retail rates.

It should be noted that in March 2026, Ukraine imported record volumes of diesel fuel — 577 thousand tons. This is more than a quarter higher than in February and 12% more than in the same period last year.
