Ukraine is demonstrating significant growth in dairy product exports despite the challenges of war. In 2024, the country exported 118,000 tons of dairy products, which is nearly double the volume of imports. Revenue from external supplies reached $296.81 million, which is 16% higher compared to 2023 and 20% more than the figure from 2021.

Main Export and Import Goods
The largest share of exports traditionally consisted of powdered and condensed milk (25%), as well as cheese (18%). Meanwhile, dairy product imports to Ukraine in 2024 amounted to 60,270 tons worth $290.34 million. Notably, 78% of the import volume was attributed to cheese.
Growth of Industrial Production and Modernization
Even under the challenging conditions of war, the industrial sector is showing positive dynamics: the number of cows in industrial farms increased by 1% over the year. The leaders in terms of industrial livestock numbers were Poltava region (52,700 heads), Cherkasy (44,000), Chernihiv (35,400), Kyiv (34,000), and Vinnytsia regions (31,500). The most rapid growth was recorded in Mykolaiv (+14%) and Ternopil (+10%) regions.
Over 90% of raw milk for processing comes from industrial farms. Currently, 125 dairy farms are actively being built or upgraded in the country.
Last year, Ukraine exported 118,000 tons of dairy products, which nearly exceeded import supplies by 100%. Revenue from exports amounted to $296.81 million (+16% compared to 2023 and +20% compared to 2021).
