Ukrainian Businesses Can Obtain Funding for Decarbonization Projects Through UNDP

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has announced the start of accepting applications from enterprises to participate in the program for the supply of internationally transferred mitigation outcomes (ITMOs). This initiative is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and applications can be submitted until January 30, 2026.

Opportunities for Funding Decarbonization Projects

The program aims to attract private investments in projects that will promote decarbonization and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Companies from countries that have signed bilateral agreements with Switzerland regarding cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement are invited to participate. Ukraine is included in this list, allowing its enterprises to take advantage of this new financial opportunity. The implementation of selected projects is planned for the period of 2026–2030.

Benefits for Ukrainian Businesses

The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that the proposed mechanism opens significant prospects for the domestic private sector. In particular, it concerns attracting investments in renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and reducing methane emissions, especially in the agricultural sector.

The ministry highlights that this mechanism provides practical opportunities for the domestic private sector to attract funding in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and methane emission reduction, particularly in the agricultural sector.
