“According to the European Open Data Maturity Assessment, Ukraine consistently ranks among the most developed countries in Europe in this area.”
Development of the Open Data Market
Over the last decade, open data in Ukraine has become an integral part of the economy and public administration. They are actively used to create new services, conduct market analytical research, and enable public oversight of the authorities. As of today:
- more than 120 services operate based on government datasets;
- over 13.9 million people use this data monthly;
- the open data market is valued at 26.8 billion UAH;
- more than 40,000 datasets are available on the portal;
- the total number of users has exceeded 10 million.
Main Directions of Modernization
The update of the open data portal platform includes several important changes:
- strengthening stability even during peak loads;
- enhancing data protection against cyber threats;
- improving search mechanisms and access to information for users;
- automating processes for agencies responsible for publishing information.
These steps signify not only a technical update but also a shift towards a more systematic approach to data management. It is expected that the modernization will make access to information easier for citizens and businesses, as well as increase the efficiency of government institutions. The completion of all stages of the update is scheduled for June 2027.
It is worth noting that recently the portal resumed the publication of data from the Unified State Register, implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, the scope of information is limited in accordance with current security requirements.
