In Ukraine, state orders for agricultural specialties will increase by 10% in 2025

In 2025, the state order for training specialists in the agricultural sector in Ukraine will significantly increase. It is planned to raise the number of budget places for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural fields by 10.2%, which amounts to nearly 600 additional places. Overall, next year, universities will receive 13,889 places for training future agricultural specialists funded by the state budget.

Details on bachelor’s and master’s programs

The state order for training bachelor’s students will increase by 150 places, reaching a total of 5,300 places. The following specialties will see the most expansion:

  • “Agronomy” – an additional 90 places (total 2,200);
  • “Water Bioresources and Aquaculture” – 60 places (up to 250);
  • “Agroengineering” – 40 places (up to 1,500);
  • “Horticulture and Landscape Management” – 20 places (up to 250).

For master’s degrees, the state order will increase by 440 places, reaching 2,394. The following fields will show the highest growth dynamics:

  • “Agroengineering” – +155 places (total 715);
  • “Animal Husbandry” – +115 (up to 335);
  • “Agronomy” – +100 (up to 900);
  • “Water Bioresources and Aquaculture” – +45 (up to 125);
  • “Forestry” – +15 (up to 225);
  • “Horticulture and Landscape Management” – +13 (up to 87).

Additionally, in 2025, the state order for training master’s students in the specialty “Veterinary Medicine” will be significantly increased by 205 places. Thus, the number of students studying this specialty for free will rise to 925.

Training of junior bachelors and the significance of changes

The state order for training qualified junior bachelors remains consistently high. In 2025, the number of budget places in this category will increase by 30, reaching 5,270.

“The increase in the state order is a step towards a qualitative renewal of the personnel potential in agroengineering, veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and agronomy. These specialists will become the drivers of technological renewal in the agricultural sector, the development of rural communities, and the strengthening of the country’s economy,” emphasized Koval.

Thus, the expansion of the state order in specialized agricultural fields will ensure the industry is supplied with highly qualified personnel, contributing to the innovative development of the agricultural sector and the strengthening of Ukraine’s economy.
