EU Ambassadors Approve New Trade Agreement with Ukraine: What Will Change

Ambassadors of the EU member states have agreed on the updated text of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement between Ukraine and the EU. This agreement is set to replace the temporary “trade visa-free” regime, which expired in June 2025.

Official Approval of the Agreement and Next Steps

It has been reported that the document received approval at the level of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (Coreper) and will be officially approved at the meeting of the EU Council on Justice and Home Affairs on October 13. After that, the agreement will be finalized within the framework of the association committee between Ukraine and the EU in the trade configuration established under the Association Agreement.

“Today, Coreper made this decision, and I can confirm that the EU Council will approve the agreement on Monday,” said a source from the publication.

Transition to New Trade Rules

Once all necessary procedures are completed and Ukraine’s position is approved, the new trade rules between Ukraine and the European Union will come into effect. This will open up broader opportunities for Ukrainian exporters and promote deeper integration of the economies.
