Ukraine Forecasts Launch of Grants for Vegetable Storage Construction in 2026

The Agricultural Committee of the Verkhovna Rada expects a significant increase in the number of modern vegetable storage facilities in Ukraine next year. This will be made possible by the launch of a government grant program aimed at supporting the construction of new storage capacities for vegetables. Experts emphasize that this year there has been heightened interest among farmers in vegetable cultivation, but the lack of infrastructure for crop storage remains a pressing issue.

Grant Support for Farmers and Processors

The committee hopes that the government program will assist farmers and vegetable processing enterprises in building the necessary storage facilities. As a result, Ukrainian consumers will benefit from stable prices for locally produced goods in the spring, which will help reduce dependence on imported vegetables.

“In recent years, we have had to import products in the spring to fill the market, but they will never be cheaper or of better quality than ours,” the committee added.

Storage Capacity Shortages and Market Prospects

According to information, the Ministry of Economy plans to launch a new grant program for the construction of vegetable storage facilities in 2026, with an annual budget of about 200 million hryvnias. Currently, Ukraine faces a shortage of storage facilities for vegetables exceeding 1.1 million tons. Due to inadequate conditions, approximately 35% of the vegetable harvest does not reach the end consumer.

The development of storage infrastructure will be an important step towards ensuring food security and price stability in the Ukrainian vegetable market.
