Structure of the Tranche and Its Purpose
Within the framework of the sixth regular tranche, Ukraine secured 2.1 billion euros in the form of a loan, as well as 200 million euros in the form of a grant. These funds are allocated under the so-called “first pillar” (Pillar I) of the Ukraine Facility program.
“The funds will be directed towards financing urgent social and humanitarian expenditures of the state,” the Ministry of Finance specifies.
According to the ministry, to receive this tranche, the Ukrainian government implemented eight reform steps that were mandatory for the sixth tranche, as well as one requirement from the fourth tranche. This effort has ensured continuous funding for key areas during a challenging time for the country.
Significance of Support and Prospects for Cooperation
Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko emphasized that the assistance under the Ukraine Facility is crucial for maintaining Ukraine’s macro-financial stability and supporting the effective functioning of state institutions during the war. He also highlighted that the implementation of over 60 planned steps demonstrates a commitment to reforms, the country’s recovery, and progress towards EU membership.
The tranche was approved by the EU Council on December 11.
The financial instrument Ukraine Facility was launched in 2024 for a four-year period. The total amount of support allocated for Ukraine is approximately 50 billion euros. Since the program’s inception in 2024, Ukraine has already received over 26.7 billion euros, of which 10.6 billion were received in 2025.
