In Ukraine, prices for early cabbage have decreased by 22% due to increased supply

The Ukrainian vegetable market is experiencing a noticeable decline in prices for new crop white cabbage. As of June 2026, most farms are selling early cabbage at prices ranging from 11 to 18 UAH per kilogram, which is significantly lower than previous figures.

Main reasons for the price decrease

According to industry experts, the main factor for the price drop was the stabilization of weather conditions after prolonged rains. This allowed farmers to accelerate the harvest, which, in turn, led to a sharp increase in supply volumes in the domestic market.

In addition, the quality of this year’s cabbage does not always meet consumer expectations. As a result, many producers are lowering prices to boost the sales of their products.

“The quality of the harvested cabbage from the 2026 crop does not always satisfy the end consumer, which additionally forces producers to lower prices to stimulate sales.”

Price dynamics in 2026

Compared to early June 2025, current prices for young white cabbage are 16% lower, and just in the last week, the price has fallen by an average of 22%. The trend of decreasing prices has been noted since the beginning of the season: in April, the first batches of young cabbage were sold for 30–38 UAH/kg, which was 39% cheaper than at the start of last year.

At that time, analysts explained this phenomenon by stable demand and competition with imported products, despite the fact that the cold spring delayed the start of open-field harvesting by almost two weeks.

It is worth noting that against the backdrop of increasing domestic production, Ukrainian greenhouse growers have called for not lifting tariffs on vegetable imports from Turkey to support the national producer.
