There is a significant decrease in prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine. Over the past week, the wholesale price of this vegetable has fallen by an average of 15% compared to the end of the previous working week. Experts attribute this price drop primarily to the increase in the supply of cucumbers from summer greenhouses in the southern regions of the country.

Increase in Supply and Price Dynamics
Analysts note that by the end of the current week, cucumbers in Ukraine are being sold within the range of 25-48 UAH/kg ($0.60-1.16/kg). Products from summer greenhouses, mainly located in the south, are entering the market at an average price of 18 UAH/kg ($0.43/kg), which further contributes to the decrease in the average market value.
“It is worth noting that today the wholesale prices for cucumbers in Ukraine are already on average 17% lower than a year ago. Furthermore, further price reductions for the vegetable cannot be ruled out, as supply will continue to increase while sales rates are declining.”
Price Situation in Retail Chains
In supermarkets, cucumber prices remain higher than wholesale prices. For example, in the “Silpo” chain, cucumber prices start at 57.70 UAH/kg. In “ATB”, cucumbers can be purchased for 49.89 UAH/kg, while in “Varus”, the price is 49.90 UAH/kg, which already includes a promotional discount.
Considering the trend of increasing supply and decreasing demand, experts do not rule out further price drops for cucumbers in Ukraine in the near future.
