Japanese Investments and Support for Ukraine’s Reconstruction

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), together with the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine, organized a business event in Kyiv on July 4 aimed at developing partnership relations between the two countries. The Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome, reported that the total amount of aid to Ukraine has already exceeded 12 billion US dollars. He also noted that the Ministry of Economy of Japan (METI), along with UNIDO, has initiated a program that promotes cooperation between Japanese and Ukrainian companies. JETRO is implementing a similar initiative separately.

“Thanks to these programs, over 50 Japanese companies have already started or plan to start new projects in Ukraine together with local partners,” emphasized the diplomat.

Support for Technology Transfer and Joint Innovations

Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Andriy Telyupa informed that together with METI, the ministry is launching a program to support technology transfer. This will allow Japanese companies to enter the Ukrainian market more effectively, particularly through the establishment of joint ventures in the field of green technologies.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Oksana Osymachko emphasized the importance of cooperation in the agricultural sector, especially in the areas of agro-processing and food industry. According to representatives of METI, the Japanese government is committed to the protection and restoration of Ukraine. A total of 30 joint projects have already been approved in areas such as agriculture, automotive manufacturing, energy, information technology, production of lifting equipment, and other sectors.
