Immutable co-founder Robi Ferguson revealed that the project has been in development for over two years. The game combines classic collectible card game (CCG) gameplay with innovative blockchain elements, including ownership rights for in-game items.
The Web3 functionality is implemented using Immutable’s infrastructure, allowing players to build card decks, trade them, and likely engage in commerce. Immutable’s Chief Studio Officer Justin Hulog emphasized that the game will be free-to-play and accessible to a wide audience, offering a low barrier to entry.
Player Expectations
“Players progress by collecting cards and in-game currency during gameplay. Those who wish to accelerate their progress or acquire specific cards can do so through trading platforms,” he noted.
The project will specialize in mobile platforms, and according to Ferguson, the release is expected in 2025. It is worth noting that information about the partnership between Ubisoft and Immutable first emerged in November 2023.
This is not Ubisoft’s first experience in the Web3 space. In 2021, the company faced a massive boycott from players due to their negative reaction to NFT-Quartz, which led to the implementation of NFTs in the game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. However, Ubisoft later suspended support for non-fungible tokens in that game.
