Tomato Prices in Ukraine Continue to Decrease

В Україні рванули вгору ціни на імпортні томати

Tomato prices in Ukraine have significantly decreased, reaching a level that is much lower than last year. Over the past week, the cost of tomatoes has dropped by 17%. This is confirmed by data from the EastFruit publication.

The demand for greenhouse tomatoes in the Ukrainian market continues to decline rapidly. Market operators note that trading in the tomato segment remains low. Major purchases are made by large retail chains, which buy products in small batches to maintain their assortment.

A significant increase in vegetable supplies from Turkey has also affected the market situation, forcing sellers to revise prices for greenhouse tomatoes downward. Currently, imported vegetables from Turkey are offered at a price of 70-90 UAH/kg (approximately $1.68-2.17/kg), which is 17% cheaper compared to last week.

It is worth noting that in Ukraine, tomatoes are already being sold at an average of 12% cheaper than at the end of March 2024. Market operators do not rule out that in the future, prices for this product may continue to decrease, as tomato supplies remain stable while sales rates do not meet expectations.
