The Verkhovna Rada has approved Yulia Svyrydenko as Prime Minister of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the candidacy of Yulia Svyrydenko for the position of Prime Minister on July 17. A total of 262 members of parliament voted in favor of the decision.

Biography and Career Path of Yulia Svyrydenko

Yulia Svyrydenko was born on December 25, 1985, in Chernihiv. According to the public organization “Chesno”, her father headed the Chernihiv territorial branch of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, while her mother worked in the regional council.

Svyrydenko obtained a master’s degree in “Management of Antimonopoly Activities” from the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics.

She began her professional career in 2008 in the private sector, where she held the position of economist for financial work at the Ukrainian-Andorran joint venture AT “AMP” in Kyiv.

Experience in Government Authorities

Since 2015, Svyrydenko has held leadership positions in the Chernihiv Regional State Administration. In particular, she headed the Department of Economic Development, served as the first deputy head of the regional state administration, and from July to December 2018, she acted as the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

From March to September 2019, she led the company “Sidko Ukraine”, which specializes in the processing of agricultural products. One of the co-owners of this enterprise is Valeriy Kulich, the former head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, where Svyrydenko also worked.

In September 2019, Svyrydenko took the position of Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, and from July 2020, she became the First Deputy Minister. On December 22, 2020, by decree of the President of Ukraine, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President.

On November 4, 2021, Yulia Svyrydenko became the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy. In August 2022, she headed the Interagency Working Group on the Implementation of State Sanction Policy.

Awards and International Recognition

Yulia Svyrydenko has been awarded the Honorary Certificate of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine — the highest government award for significant contributions to the implementation of state policy in various fields.

In 2023, Svyrydenko was included in the prestigious list of 100 “new leaders shaping the world” according to TIME magazine, becoming one of four Ukrainian women recognized in this ranking.
