The Ukrainian Restaurant Market Shows Growth in Revenue and Attendance This Spring

Reasons for the Growth of the Restaurant Market

Analysts attribute the positive dynamics to traditional spring factors. With the warming weather, Ukrainians are more frequently strolling through the cities, and the opening of summer terraces along with pre-holiday activities stimulate visits to cafes and restaurants. These circumstances are helping to gradually bring guests back to public catering establishments after the winter lull.

“Attendance in March also increased – by 16% compared to winter. However, it still remains about 5% lower than last year’s figures.”

Average Check and Dynamics of Establishment Openings

Despite the increase in the number of visitors, the average check in March remained almost unchanged compared to the winter months. At the same time, year-on-year, the average check increased by 16%, which is primarily attributed to rising prices rather than an increase in consumption volumes.

The market is actively responding to the improving situation: some establishments that temporarily ceased operations are resuming work, and new restaurants are also opening. Experts note that the restaurant sector is entering a phase of activation and development.

This year in Kyiv, entrepreneurs received permission to start the summer terrace season earlier than usual – from March 15. This further stimulates the development of the restaurant industry and improves conditions for guests in the capital.
