Factors Influencing Gasoline Prices
The main reasons for the increase in gasoline prices in Ukraine, according to experts, are the rise in global oil prices and the potential sanctions against Russian oil. According to analysts, the price of the benchmark Brent crude has returned to the mark of 70 dollars per barrel. However, as of 18:11 Kyiv time, Brent oil was trading at 67.91 dollars per barrel, which is 1.16% lower than during the previous session.
Additionally, the expected sanctions against Russian oil may lead to increased transportation costs for petroleum products to European countries, which, in turn, will affect the price of fuel imported into Ukraine from European countries.
“In the coming weeks, gasoline at Ukrainian gas stations may increase in price by an average of 2 UAH/l. Meanwhile, this week the price of this type of fuel at gas stations will rise by 1 UAH/l,” the statement reads.
