“Three dead. Another body was retrieved by rescuers from the rubble of a building in Dnipro that was hit by the Russians last night,” Hanzha wrote.
Rescuers continue to clear the debris of the destroyed building, searching for potential victims. As of now, 21 injured individuals are known, of which 11 have been hospitalized, and a 26-year-old woman is in serious condition. The other injured have sustained moderate injuries.
Consequences of the nighttime attack on the city
As a result of the massive missile and drone attack in Dnipro, large-scale fires broke out, local enterprises were damaged, a four-story residential building was partially destroyed, and several high-rise buildings and a private residence were also damaged. Among the injured is a child.
Targeted strikes on civilian infrastructure
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian troops regularly use various types of weapons: strike drones, missiles, KABs, and multiple launch rocket systems to shell Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure across the country. Such attacks lead to the destruction of residential buildings, enterprises, hospitals, kindergartens, and energy and water supply facilities.
The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these actions as war crimes and emphasize their targeted nature. Shelling of the population’s life-support systems, healthcare facilities, energy, and communication infrastructure, which deprives people of access to basic services, is viewed as acts of genocide.
At the same time, the leadership of Russia denies that its troops deliberately shell civilian infrastructure, resulting in the deaths of civilians and the destruction of hospitals, schools, and other vital facilities.
