Sweden Allocates 4.8 Billion Krona to Strengthen Ukraine’s Defense Capabilities

Sweden has announced the allocation of 4.8 billion krona (approximately 417 million euros) to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities. This funding is part of the 19th aid package approved by the country’s parliament on April 29.

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson emphasized that this support will enable the Armed Forces and defense industry of Ukraine to become more effective in defending against Russia.

Distribution of Funding

The new aid package includes financial contributions to several initiatives:

  • 100 million krona for a demining coalition, which will allow for the purchase of mine detectors, vehicles, and personal protective equipment.
  • 300 million krona for a drone coalition to acquire various types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • 50 million krona for a maritime capabilities coalition, which includes funding for training Ukrainian Navy personnel as part of Operation Interchange.
  • 30 million krona for an IT coalition to purchase equipment necessary for creating the Ukrainian management system “Delta.”
  • 1 billion krona for the “Danish model” of arms procurement.
  • 418 million krona for the purchase of equipment to support Ukraine’s ground forces, including armored vehicles.
  • 500 million krona for a Czech initiative to procure artillery ammunition.
  • 546 million krona for a similar initiative from Estonia.
  • Over 1 billion krona for the procurement of air defense systems and long-range drones.
