This week in Ukraine, there has been a noticeable decrease in prices for garden strawberries, which are actively supplied by local producers, particularly from the western regions. Experts explain this trend by a substantial increase in the supply of berries in the market, resulting from the start of mass harvesting.

Main Factors Behind the Decrease in Strawberry Prices
Although the demand for strawberries remains stable, it is not keeping pace with the high rates of harvesting. As a result, competition among farmers has intensified, and producers are forced to gradually lower their selling prices to sell perishable products. According to analysts, it is the increase in the volume of berries in the market that has compelled farmers to adapt their pricing policies.
Price Dynamics of Berries in 2026
At the end of last weekend, greenhouse strawberries were priced at 200–260 UAH per kilogram. With the start of active harvesting in film greenhouses in the southern and western regions, wholesale prices decreased by approximately 14% — to 170–230 UAH per kilogram. Despite the current decrease, this year’s berries are still more expensive compared to the same period last year — the difference is about a third.
“In 2023, during the mass harvesting season, the price of strawberries fell below 50 UAH per kilogram. In the summer of 2024, the minimum level was already 60–80 UAH/kg, and in 2025, the lower limit rose to 100–150 UAH/kg.”
It is worth noting that the market remains very volatile and sensitive to seasonal factors. For example, in the fall of 2024, due to a supply shortage, prices rose to 1000 UAH/kg. At the beginning of 2025, the cost per kilogram was approximately 600 UAH, and at the beginning of 2026, the winter price reached about 550 UAH.
Experts predict that the current price decrease is just the first stage of a seasonal trend. The largest volumes of harvesting and, accordingly, the maximum increase in supply are expected at the beginning of next month. At that time, prices may continue to decrease as the market approaches the peak strawberry season.
