Compensation Amounts and Participation Conditions
Under the program’s conditions, agricultural producers operating in frontline communities will be able to receive compensation of up to 60% of the insurance premium cost. Other farmers will be able to expect compensation of up to 45%. To participate in the program, it is necessary to contact accredited insurance companies that are authorized to conduct agricultural product insurance, approved by the National Bank of Ukraine. Currently, such insurers include the companies “INGO” and “Universal,” but it is expected that the list of companies providing these services will soon expand.
Significance of the Program for the Agricultural Sector
This government step is aimed at protecting the agricultural sector, especially in frontline regions and areas affected by drought. The program will become one of the key tools for countering risks associated with climate change and will help farmers avoid significant financial losses in unforeseen situations.
“Given the critical importance of the agricultural sector – especially for frontline regions and areas affected by drought, the Government is launching the state support program for agricultural insurance for the first time. In the new year, this will be one of the key tools for responding to the challenges of climate change and reducing risks for agricultural producers,” emphasized Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev.
