Situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant After Shelling: One Power Line Remains

As a result of shelling by Russian forces, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has lost power from one of the two external power lines connecting it to the unified energy system of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

According to the information, the plant is currently operating on only one power supply line. “The provision of external power to the plant, necessary for safe operation, is once again under threat. In the event of a complete disconnection from the energy system, another blackout could occur at the ZNPP, posing a serious threat to radiation safety,” the ministry emphasized.

It is known that energy workers are ready to do everything possible to restore power to the ZNPP as soon as the security situation allows. It is noted that the de-occupation of the plant is critically important for ensuring its safe operation. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the ZNPP has already experienced a complete blackout eight times and has repeatedly been on the brink of this state.
