The assailant was quickly apprehended, after which law enforcement officials went to his apartment in California to conduct investigative actions.

During a briefing at the White House, Donald Trump emphasized that the attack was “completely unexpected.” The President added that the room where the dinner took place was “not very well protected.” When asked by reporters about the possible motive for the attack, Trump replied that he “did not know,” and also denied any connection between the incident and the US war in Iran.

After the incident, President Trump posted a video on the social network Truth Social showing surveillance footage of the attack. Additionally, close-up photographs of the apprehended assailant were released.
