Operational Situation in the Oleksandrivka Direction
Since the beginning of January, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have been conducting counteroffensive operations, which have already allowed them to regain control over 480 square kilometers of territory. Ukrainian troops have liberated eight settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region and another four in the Zaporizhzhia region.
According to Syrskyi, the enemy is concentrating attacks near the settlements of Ternove, Oleksandrhrad, Ivanivka, Zelenyi Hai, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sichneve, as well as in the direction of Sosnivka, Verbove, and Zlahoda. Over the past week, 64 enemy attacks have been recorded in the specified direction.
Enemy Objectives and Actions of Ukrainian Forces
Russian troops continue their attempts to advance, despite significant losses in both personnel and equipment. The ultimate goal of the occupiers is to seize additional territories and create a so-called “buffer zone” in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
“In contrast, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are consistently and steadfastly conducting active defense, inflicting significant fire damage on the occupiers, destroying enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment,” Syrskyi emphasized.
Oleksandr Syrskyi also assessed the situation in the Pokrovsk direction and instructed to enhance the supply of ammunition and other logistical resources to Ukrainian units in Donetsk to increase the effectiveness of fire operations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously noted that as a result of counteroffensive actions, the Defense Forces managed to liberate a significant portion of the occupied territories. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that thanks to successful special operations, they were able to push back the units of the Russian Armed Forces from previously occupied territories in Dnipropetrovsk.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War reported in February 2026 that Ukrainian forces achieved the highest rates of territory liberation in the Oleksandrivka-Huliaipole direction, regaining control over 200 square kilometers.
Additionally, on March 9, DeepState analysts warned of new threats from the Russian Armed Forces in the Sumy direction, as well as the deportation of Ukrainians from border villages and the emergence of new red and gray zones in the Sumy region.
