The National Bank launched an educational project on financial literacy for military personnel and veterans

The National Bank of Ukraine has presented a new project aimed at enhancing the financial literacy of military personnel, veterans, and their families. The initiative was unveiled during the III Veterans’ Reintegration Conference 2026: From Duty to Opportunity, where the head of the NBU, Andriy Pyshnyy, detailed the key features of the project.

Educational platform and specialized section

The main element of the project is the section “For Defenders and Their Families” on the financial literacy platform “Garad.” This section has been created as part of the large-scale program “Financial Literacy for Defenders of Ukraine” and already contains over 80 diverse informational materials.

The section includes not only articles but also practical advice, instructions, templates for financial planning, as well as a navigator with useful contacts and links to online resources. All content is grouped into eight thematic blocks, including:

  • finances during service;
  • budget planning and savings;
  • banking services;
  • loans and debts;
  • insurance;
  • protection against fraud.

Support and development of the project

The section for defenders and their families will be regularly updated according to the current needs of military personnel, veterans, and their loved ones. The project, initiated in 2025, is being implemented in collaboration with government agencies, veteran and military organizations, public associations, financial institutions, and educational establishments. In total, over 60 partners have joined the project.

“For the National Bank, this project is primarily about supporting those who defend us. The war has changed both our country and the lives of millions of Ukrainians who have stood up to protect it. We strive for the financial system to be a worthy support for military personnel, veterans, and their families, just as they have become a support for the country. Our goal is to make Ukraine’s financial system the most inclusive in the world so that Ukrainian defenders and their families feel financial security and confidence in their daily financial decisions,” emphasized Pyshnyy.

The initiative aims to help military personnel and their families effectively manage personal finances and ensure better adaptation to civilian life.
