The Security Service of Ukraine has launched an attack on one of the largest oil logistics facilities in southern Russia. According to a source in the security service, on the night of March 12, drones from the Special Operations Center “Alpha” of the SBU struck the infrastructure of the oil pumping station “Tikhoretsk” in Krasnodar Krai.

Significance of the Tikhoretsk Oil Hub for Russia’s Logistics
The Tikhoretsk oil hub is considered one of the key transfer points for transporting oil in southern Russia. It houses a large oil depot and terminal that play a strategic role in the logistics of Russian fuel and petroleum products. According to a security service representative, this hub is the only supply line for petroleum products to the port of Novorossiysk.
“Today’s strike on the Tikhoretsk oil hub, which is the only supply line for petroleum products to Novorossiysk, has dealt a significant blow to the enemy’s oil logistics. Such systematic special operations by the SBU create disruptions in supply, complicate the transportation of petroleum products to ports, and force the enemy to change their logistics routes. Together, this weakens both Russia’s military capabilities and its economic ability to wage war.”
The attack resulted in a direct hit on the facility and the outbreak of a large fire. Footage circulating on social media likely shows the ignition of fuel tanks at the oil depot.
Scale of Damage Control and Context of Attacks
The operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported that 257 rescuers, 69 units of equipment, and a fire train were involved in extinguishing the fire caused by the drone attack in the Tikhoretsk area on the night of March 12.
It is worth noting that in March, the SBU also struck the oil infrastructure of the port of Novorossiysk, indicating a continuation of systematic actions against Russia’s energy facilities. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, facilities within the aggressor country have repeatedly been targeted from the air, and during 2024-2025, oil refineries have become primary targets of attacks. Similar strikes are also being carried out against Russian facilities in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
The majority of such attacks have been officially confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stating that the Defense Forces of Ukraine “are systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces, as well as forcing the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.”
