In April, the activity of Russian troops noticeably increased in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomerations. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. According to him, the defense in this area is held by units of the 11th and 19th army corps, which are resisting attempts at an offensive by the Russian army.

Tactics of Russian troops and countermeasures by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Syrskyi noted that the Russian army is using the tactic of small infantry groups that attack under the cover of artillery and drones. Since the beginning of the week and as of May 1, the Russian army has carried out 76 attacks in the Kostiantynivka direction, trying to break through the Ukrainian defense.
“We are repelling constant attempts by Russian occupiers to establish themselves on the outskirts of Kostiantynivka using infiltration tactics. The city is under a counter-sabotage regime. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are conducting a range of active measures to detect and destroy the enemy,” Syrskyi wrote on his social media.
Operational situation and command decisions
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that he discussed the current situation on the battlefield, the supply of troops, and proposals for detecting and destroying Russian infantry groups with the command. Special attention is being paid to countering enemy drones, establishing defensive lines and fortifications, as well as ensuring units with ammunition and logistical resources.
Syrskyi stressed that he made a number of operational decisions directly on the ground aimed at improving the supply of Ukrainian defenders.
According to a report from DeepState on April 27, the aggressor has made slight but significant progress near Kostiantynivka: according to the map, the Russian army has approached the outskirts of the city from the eastern direction.
