According to a senior NATO official, the Russian military-industrial complex is currently operating at the limits of its capabilities and is likely to maintain this level of production for about another year. Russia produces approximately 130 tanks each month, totaling over 1,600 units per year. Most of this equipment consists of upgraded or refurbished tanks from existing stockpiles. The Russian Federation still has about 2,000 old tanks in storage, although some of them are only suitable for disassembly for parts.

Production of other armored vehicles is limited
In addition to tanks, Russia manufactures about 183 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers each month. However, experts emphasize that significant increases in production volumes are not expected, as industrial capacities are already fully utilized.
North Korea is ramping up production for Russia
Analysts also report that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the construction of the largest military factory in the country’s history. Work has already begun near an existing defense enterprise. It is anticipated that the products from the new factory will be intended for export to the Russian Federation.
“The Russian military-industrial complex is likely at its peak capabilities now and will be able to maintain this pace for at least another year.”
