Russia Extends Ban on Gasoline Exports by Producers Until the End of July

The Government of the Russian Federation has announced the extension of the ban on gasoline exports for producers of this fuel until the end of July 2026.

Reasons for Implementing Gasoline Export Restrictions

According to official information, this decision has been made to ensure a stable supply for the domestic market amid rising seasonal demand for fuel, which is associated with the agricultural planting campaign. An additional factor has been the dynamics of global oil prices, which have recently shown an upward trend.

“The ban was introduced to ensure stable supply in the domestic market during the high seasonal demand for fuel during the agricultural planting campaign, as well as due to the rise in global oil prices.”

Exceptions and Impact of Previous Restrictions

It is worth noting that the ban does not apply to those countries with which Russia has active intergovernmental agreements for gasoline supply. For example, Mongolia is mentioned among such countries.

Last year, several regions of Russia and temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine already experienced disruptions in gasoline supply. This was caused by Ukraine’s attacks on Russian oil refineries, as well as the seasonal increase in fuel demand.

Russia has repeatedly implemented export restrictions on gasoline and diesel fuel to stabilize prices domestically and combat shortages.

According to industry sources, last year Russia exported nearly 5 million metric tons of gasoline, which is equivalent to approximately 117,000 barrels per day.
