In Ukraine, from March 2 to March 3, prices for major types of fuel rose by a record 2 hryvnias per liter, leading to the surpassing of new price thresholds at the country’s gas stations. The cost of light petroleum products exceeded 65 hryvnias per liter, while the price of liquefied gas reached 39.05 hryvnias per liter, increasing by 58 kopecks.

Increase in Gasoline and Diesel Prices: Market Details
According to current analytical data, the average retail price of A-95 gasoline rose by 1.94 hryvnias per liter, reaching 65.07 hryvnias. The price of premium A-95+ gasoline increased by 2.06 hryvnias, stopping at 69.57 hryvnias per liter. Diesel fuel became 2.07 hryvnias more expensive, reaching 65.02 hryvnias per liter. Meanwhile, the average wholesale price of gasoline rose to 60.05 hryvnias per liter, and diesel to 67.34 hryvnias per ton.
“The increase in retail fuel prices is a reaction to the rapid rise in wholesale prices amid further increases in oil prices. As of noon on March 3, Brent crude was trading above $84 per barrel, and gasoil on the London exchange rose to $1,000/ton+,” the publication informs.
For the first time since 2022, it was recorded that the retail price of gasoline temporarily fell 2.32 hryvnias below the wholesale price. Over the day, the spread on gasoline decreased by 3.08 hryvnias, reaching 5.02 hryvnias per liter, while on liquefied gas it decreased by 0.54 hryvnias, to 4.57 hryvnias per liter.
Price Changes Across Gas Station Networks
The largest price increases were noted in networks that previously offered the lowest rates. For example, the “Factor” network increased the price of gasoline by 4 hryvnias (to 61 UAH/l), and diesel by 5 hryvnias (to 63 UAH/l). In the Chipo network, gasoline rose by an average of 3.3–4 hryvnias (to 64–64.40 UAH/l). A 3 hryvnia increase per liter was observed in the UPG, “Rur Group,” and RLS networks for diesel fuel, which thus matched the price of the main competitor UKRNAFTA, which raised its price by 2 hryvnias (to 65.90 UAH/l). Additionally, UPG increased the price of liquefied gas by 2 hryvnias — to 40.23 hryvnias per liter.
The OKKO and WOG networks also raised prices for gasoline and diesel by 2 hryvnias (to 68.99 UAH/l), and for liquefied gas by 1 hryvnia (to 40.99 UAH/l). Furthermore, premium diesel increased to 71.99 hryvnias per liter, which is 2 hryvnias higher than the previous level.
