Robert Fico plans to deliver a message from Zelensky to Putin during his visit to Moscow

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, is preparing for an official visit to Moscow scheduled for May 9. During this trip, he intends to deliver a message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Expectations for dialogue between the parties

Slovak Foreign Ministry Secretary Rastislav Kovanec stated that Robert Fico may not only convey the address from the Ukrainian leader but also receive a response from Putin for the leadership of Ukraine. According to Kovanec, the Kremlin intends to share its vision of potential ways to end the war against Ukraine.

“He may also receive valuable information from the Russian president about how he sees efforts to end the war,” Kovanec said.

The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that maintaining dialogue with all parties to the conflict is currently of particular importance. According to official representatives, further negotiations should involve both the European Union and European politicians. This could create a foundation for forming a future peace agreement.

The role of European leaders in the negotiations

Rastislav Kovanec also stressed that some Western European political leaders already support the idea of establishing a dialogue with Putin regarding the end of the war. This approach, he said, could be an important step towards peace in Ukraine.

At the same time, it is reported that Robert Fico does not plan to participate in the parade traditionally held in Moscow on May 9.
