In Ukraine, there has been a sharp increase in prices for greenhouse cucumbers. Currently, domestic producers are selling the vegetables for between 35–55 UAH per kilogram (0.85–1.33 USD per kilogram), which is on average 14% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.

Reasons for the Price Increase of Cucumbers
Experts explain this price trend as a result of limited supply of greenhouse cucumbers, which has arisen due to unstable harvests among producers. This issue affects both stationary greenhouse complexes and film greenhouses across the country. Against the backdrop of increased demand, this has led to a shortage of products in the market.
Lack of Imports and Possible Consequences
An additional factor influencing the situation is the absence of competition from imported products. As a result, the domestic market remains monopolized by local producers, which contributes to further price increases. Experts do not rule out that the current pricing situation may stimulate a significant increase in the volume of imported cucumber supplies in the near future.
Despite the price hike, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are currently on average 23% cheaper than during the same period last year.
Prices are supported by the lack of competition from imported products.
