Reasons for the Increase in Meat Prices
Analysts from the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club note that the main factors contributing to the rise in beef prices include a reduction in the cattle population, as well as the impact of rising pork prices.
“The pig population has decreased by 11% compared to last year.”
At the end of May, the average price for pork neck in large supermarket chains reached 330.25 UAH/kg, which is almost 30 UAH more than in April. According to forecasts from the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club, pork prices are not expected to decrease in the near future.
A significant influence on price formation is also the reduction in domestic meat supply, which is related to the decrease in livestock numbers. This trend persists in both the cattle sector and among pigs.
