Before the New Year holidays, there is traditionally an increase in the prices of pork and chicken in Ukraine, which is related to the rise in demand during the celebrations. However, after the festive days, the situation in the food market may change.

Possible Increase in Vegetable Prices in January
According to experts’ forecasts, after the New Year holidays, vegetable prices may rise by 5-7%. This is especially true for greenhouse vegetable crops, which see a significant increase in demand before the holidays. The main reason is the limited supply of Ukrainian products and the need to increase imports during cold weather. If the country experiences a prolonged frost period, the price of vegetables may gradually increase.
“If there are frosts and cold weather persists, we will see a gradual increase in vegetable prices – in the range of 5% to 7%. The greatest increase is observed in vegetable crops – greenhouse vegetables, which have quite high demand during the pre-New Year holidays; we are practically relying on either the leftovers available in Ukraine or imports,” says the expert.
Meat Price Dynamics: Expectation of Decrease After the Holidays
Throughout the year, beef has remained quite expensive, reflecting global trends. In contrast, pork and chicken traditionally become more expensive before the New Year, and this trend continues throughout the January holidays. However, as noted by agricultural market analysts, after the festive days, a partial decrease in meat product prices is expected. This is related to a decline in consumer activity and the stabilization of demand in the market.
Overall, despite the rise in prices for certain categories of food in winter, Ukrainians can expect a gradual easing of the price situation shortly after the festive period ends.
