The possible suspension of emergency electricity supply from Slovakia will not create risks for the stable operation of Ukraine’s unified energy system. As reported by NEC “Ukrenergo”, Ukraine last contacted the Slovak operator regarding emergency assistance over a month ago, and the volumes of supply were minor and time-limited.

Cooperation Between Operators of Ukraine and Slovakia
Both transmission system operators – Ukrainian and Slovak – are members of the European energy network ENTSO-E. Their interaction is carried out in accordance with the current rules of this organization. A mutual emergency assistance agreement has been established between the companies. In February 2026, the Ukrainian side received a letter from SEPS proposing to review the payment terms for such services.
No Official Decisions on Termination of Cooperation
As of now, there has been no official notification of a unilateral termination of the contract from the Slovak operator SEPS. “Ukrenergo” emphasizes that the analysis of the Slovak side’s proposals will be conducted as soon as possible.
“There are currently no discussions regarding any restrictions on the commercial import of electricity from Slovakia,” the company stated.
It is also emphasized that the allocation of capacity in cross-border electricity networks is carried out in accordance with the results of auctions. Thus, the existing cooperation mechanisms remain in effect, and there are currently no threats to Ukraine’s energy stability.
