Ukrainians have begun receiving payments under the government initiative ‘Winter Support’, which provides financial assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population during the cold season.

Who is already receiving assistance

As reported by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Denys Uliutin, the first funds were received by those citizens who applied through the ‘Diia’ app on the day the program was launched. According to the minister, over 1.8 million pensioners and social benefit recipients serviced by Ukrposhta are already receiving the so-called ‘winter thousand’. For this category of citizens, the payment is made automatically, without the need to submit additional applications.

Additionally, over 550 thousand people have taken the opportunity to apply in person at Ukrposhta branches. The state has already allocated about 1.9 billion hryvnias for applications submitted through ‘Diia’ on November 15, the first day of the government’s program.

“We will announce the next wave of payments separately,” emphasized the minister.

Assistance for the most vulnerable

Furthermore, over 230 thousand Ukrainians have already submitted applications for expanded assistance of 6,500 hryvnias, which is intended for the most disadvantaged categories of the population. The first payments under this program are scheduled to begin on December 10. Thus, the government program continues to reach an increasingly broader segment of citizens, providing support during the autumn-winter period.
