Over One Million Square Meters of Roads Repaired in Ukraine Since the Beginning of the Year

Since the beginning of the current year, over 1 million square meters of road surface have been updated in Ukraine. This large-scale repair has been made possible despite extremely challenging conditions caused by military actions, a harsh winter, and limited funding for the road sector.

Features of Road Repairs in 2026

According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, the current state of highways is one of the most challenging in recent years. The situation has been significantly complicated by the destruction caused by Russian aggression, as well as adverse weather conditions during the winter period.

“Despite this, since the beginning of the year, we have managed to ensure the repair of a record amount of road surface during the full-scale invasion,” Kuleba noted.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that repair work is being carried out across the entire territory of Ukraine. In many regions, contractors have already transitioned from current repairs to the use of so-called “maps” technology, which allows for more durable road surfaces.

Plans for Further Infrastructure Renewal

The pace of road repairs currently stands at up to 90 thousand square meters per day. By the end of March, this figure is expected to increase to 150 thousand square meters per day. Current repairs on international highways are to be completed by May 1, and all major works are to be finished by June 1 of this year.

It is worth noting that as of the end of February, over 23 million square meters of roads in Ukraine remained in need of repair.
