The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine is unlikely to significantly improve before the end of the winter period. This opinion was expressed by Yuriy Korolchuk, co-founder of the Institute for Energy Strategies, during the broadcast of “Morning.LIVE.”

Forecast for Stabilization of the Energy System
The expert emphasized that even if missile attacks cease and conditions are calm enough for systemic repairs, improvements should not be expected before the beginning of March. The main reason remains the high consumption of electricity for heating homes, as a significant portion of the population uses electricity specifically for heating during the cold period. This creates additional pressure on the energy system, complicating its stabilization in winter.
Current Situation and Changes in Consumption
According to Yuriy Korolchuk, there has been a certain improvement in the situation with electricity recently. The winter holidays and reduced electricity consumption have allowed for the release of up to 2000 megawatts of capacity, which has had a positive effect even in freezing weather. However, the expert noted that this is not a reason to speak of a stable improvement, as prolonged power outages still persist in most regions of the country.
“Unfortunately, the situation cannot improve until the end of winter, until the beginning of March. Even if missile strikes cease and even if there is a calm period for more systematic repairs,” the specialist believes.
