More than 200 small and medium-sized Finnish enterprises are preparing to enter the Ukrainian market, while large Finnish companies plan to expand their presence in the country. They view Ukraine as a promising direction for investment, particularly in the fields of IT, digitalization, green energy, innovative construction, as well as in the food and processing industries. Finnish businesses aim to play an active role in the country’s recovery and modernization.

Finnish Business Leaders: Plans and Investments in Ukraine
Among the representatives of Finnish businesses already operating in Ukraine or planning to expand are major companies such as Nokia, KONE, Wärtsilä, Sweco, and Hesburger.
- Nokia has maintained its presence in the Ukrainian market for 30 years. The company supports critical infrastructure, including hospitals and schools, and plans to establish a defense innovation center in collaboration with Ukrainian defense industry enterprises. Other plans include expanding digitized projects and implementing 5G technologies.
- KONE has been modernizing urban infrastructure in Ukraine since 1991 and is interested in restoring housing stock, transportation networks, and critical infrastructure.
- Wärtsilä specializes in implementing energy-efficient solutions, including modular power plants. The company offers the Ukrainian government support in executing energy efficiency and decarbonization projects.
- Sweco is a leading European player in engineering services and has been operating in Ukraine since 1990. Sweco participates in “green” transition projects: constructing energy-efficient housing for internally displaced persons, developing industrial parks, and water purification systems.
- Hesburger has invested 6 million euros in building a frozen burger production plant in Boryspil and is actively expanding its restaurant network in Ukraine. The company’s plans include opening ten more establishments in western regions and increasing the export of livestock products to EU countries.

The Ukrainian market remains attractive to Finnish investors due to the wide opportunities for business expansion and participation in the country’s reconstruction. Finnish companies demonstrate a willingness not only to invest in the development of key sectors of the economy but also to engage in the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and support critical infrastructure.
